On the morning of October 18th, 2017, the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) was held at the Great Hall of the People. On behalf of the 18th Central Committee of the CPC, General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered a report to the 19th National Congress. Southwest Jiaotong University's Student Working Department of the Party Committee, the School Youth League organized the Youth League secretaries, the Student Party branch's secretary representatives and student cadres to watch it and carried out discussions. The work report of General Secretary Xi Jinping heated aroused widespread concern and enthusiastic response among the young students.
After the opening ceremony, the school immediately convened the symposium, "Southwest Jiaotong University's Student Working Department to learn the great spirit of 19th National Congress", and with their own work and study experiences, the participating teachers and students talked about their own feelings about General Secretary's report as well as the 19th National Congress.

The International Students Division of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges held the 2017 SWJTU International Students Annual Safety Education Orientation at the No.1 Lecture Hall, Xipu Campus, on the afternoon of November 10th. Officer Duan from the Exit & Entry Administration Division of Chengdu PSB, Ms. Liu from the Graduate School, Ms. Wen from the Finance Office, Mr. Fei from Center of Psychological Research and Counseling and international students on campus attended the meeting.
The orientation was convened by the university in order to ensure a favorable learning environment for students from all around the world, and to provide a comfortable oversea study experience. The meeting instructed on the details focusing on laws and regulations on exit & entry, safety instructions for dormitory, training program, financial information, psychological counseling and security on campus. It was expected to see that international education in our university would make great progress, and also that better learning experience would be obtained by international students, under mutual cooperation.
