I graduated from Southwest Jiaotong University with Bachelor’s degree in English from the college of Foreign Language in 2009. The four year of college life was an important and meaningful phase for me. It provided me with a platform to know and build life-long valuable relationships with friends and mentors from different cultural and geographical backgrounds across the country. It provided me the chance to immerse myself into the world of English language, culture, and literature. Professors and instructors were considerate for students and passionate about their own research work. The internship opportunities during each summer afforded us professional experiences, through which I found my interest in teaching English to language learners. This interest guided me to pursue further education in the area of language acquisition in the United States.

I earned my master’s degree in Teaching, Learning and Teacher Education in 2011. Currently I am a 3rd-year doctoral student in the College of Education and Human Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. My research areas mainly include English vocabulary acquisition, reading, writing, motivation, and technology integration, and teacher education. Life in Lincoln is both enjoyable and busy. I’ve phenomenal and supportive friends and mentors from all around the world. Friends are like my families sometimes when I get homesick. My mentors have always been supportive for my academic studying and working, for which I am mostly occupied. The greatest thing for pursuing a higher education abroad, for me, is probably the opportunity to understand myself and my own cultural backgrounds better, to study the science of human learning more thoroughly, and to expand my worldview by learning new ideas and perspectives.
