卡尔斯塔德大学孔子学院由西南交通大学与卡尔斯塔德大学合作共建，是西南交通大学在海外建立的第一所孔子学院。
The Confucius Institute at Karlstad University was co-established between Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU) and Karlstad University, and is the first overseas Confucius Institute built by SWJTU.
该孔子学院将做9个方面的工作，包括开设汉语师资培训，为当地培养汉语教学人才；开展中国电影展、中国美食汇、中国文化体验等活动，提供了解中国文化的平台；根据学员兴趣成立不同的中国文化兴趣小组，如中国书法兴趣小组、中国武术兴趣小组和中国舞蹈兴趣小组等；开展冬令营和夏令营等短期活动，提供了解中国、体验中国文化的机会；举办各种中国文化展览，展现中国文化的博大精深等等。
The Confucius Institute is responsible for the following: designing and providing training courses for Chinese language teachers; cultivating Chinese teaching talent for local schools; organizing activities such as the “Chinese Film Festival”, the “Chinese Gourmet Festival”, and the “Experience of Chinese Culture” which provide a platform for non Chinese people to learn about the Chinese culture; establishing such cultural interest groups as the “Interest Group for Calligraphy”, the “Interest Group for Chinese Kung Fu”, the “Interest Group for Chinese Dance” and are all based on students’ different interests; initiating short-term activities such as winter camps and summer camps which offer students an opportunity to know and experience Chinese culture; carrying out various exhibitions on Chinese culture which help introduce its broadness and profoundness.
卡尔斯塔德大学是瑞典十所综合性大学之一，拥有良好的汉语教学环境。西南交通大学与瑞典卡尔斯塔德大学合作共建孔子学院，将增进瑞典人民对汉语的学习和对中国文化的了解，同时搭建中瑞两国多层次的交流合作平台。
Karlstad University is one of the ten comprehensive universities in Sweden with a sound Chinese teaching environment. The Confucius Institute, jointly founded by SWJTU and Karlstad University, will increase enthusiasm among the Swedes for learning Chinese and enhance their understanding of the Chinese culture, and will help build a platform for communication and cooperation between the two countries at many different levels.
从揭牌成立至今，卡尔斯塔德大学孔子学院共开展、参与重大活动30余项，确保了孔子学院工作的稳步推进。2011-2012学年秋季学期开设汉语课程两门，选课人数为53人次；2011-2012学年春季学期开设汉语课程四门，选课人数为56人次，同时，在瑞典著名私立中学Lundsberg开设汉语选修课，选课人数21人。
Since its establishment, the Confucius Institute at Karlstad University has launched and participated in more than 30 activities, which have made a great contribution to the development of the Institute. Two Chinese courses were put on during the autumn semester of 2011-2012, with 53 persons taking the courses; four Chinese courses were run during the spring semester of 2011-2012, with 56 having taken the courses. At the same time, selective Chinese courses were made avaiable in the distinguished Lundsberg private middle school and 21 students took these courses.
此外，卡尔斯塔德大学孔子学院还积极向外拓展，广泛联络当地大中小学及企业，努力使汉语教学和文化推广进入更多的机构，加大中国文化的辐射力度，增强孔子学院文化传播功能。
In addition, the Confucius Institute at Karlstad University has developed rapidly and maintained close relations with local universities and schools as well as enterprises. The goal is to popularize Chinese teaching and culture in more and more institutions, promoting the spread of Chinese culture and enhancing the function of the Institute’s cultural transmission.
回望过去，成果喜人；展望未来，任重道远。国际教育学院将以瑞典卡尔斯塔德大学孔子学院建院一周年为契机，加强交流、真诚合作，推动我校教育国际化迈向更高水平。
In retrospect, the Confucius Institute has achieved great success, but still faces a challenging task in the future. The first anniversary of the establishment of the Confucius Institute at Karlstad University is a great opportunity for the School of International Education to strengthen its exchange and cooperation with Sweden, and to help facilitate Chinese education in reaching a higher level.
