The "Chengdu Night Market in Taikoo Li" Live Class was Successfully Held

 

This summer, the International Chinese Department of the School of Foreign Languages in SWJTU organized the "Panda-themed courses" and four live broadcast activities in the 2021 "Chinese Language Training Program" sponsored by the British Council and the Sino-Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Education of China, open to more than 1400 secondary school students from 56 secondary schools in the UK. This is a beneficial attempt by the International Chinese Department to promote precise international communication through international curriculum cooperation, based on the geographical and cultural advantages of Chengdu. By making cultural immersion experience courses for British teenagers, we enable more teenagers around the world to see a vivid and real Chengdu.

 

The "Chengdu Night Market", the first live event of the 2021 Online Summer Camp, was held as scheduled on July 6th at 8pm. The live broadcast was hosted by Liu Xinman, a sophomore majoring in International Chinese, and Deng Yujie, a middle school student from the United States.

 

The live broadcast starts at 8pm of Beijing time (1pm of UK time). At the "Chuntai Shi Jin" night market in St.Taikoo Li, the two hosts greeted the online audience of more than 1,400 British middle school students in Both English and Chinese, and introduced Chengdu's fashion center Taikoo Li Business District and landmark sculpture "Panda climbing the Wall". Behind them was the December Market, which is 217 meters long and has 40 stalls. It is a night market integrating fine wine, music performance, life aesthetics, art space and food market.

 

Supported by The Language Integration Center of the Ministry of Education, the live video course with the theme of "Panda Park" was filmed by the School of Foreign Languages of SWJTU and Chengdu Plus, which is a beneficial exploration for the international accurate communication of our University. Recently, "YOUTH LINK Sino-Foreign YOUTH Cloud Dialogue", another online cultural interview program of the International Chinese Department of the School of Foreign Languages, has been officially launched for students from world-renowned universities. The international Chinese Language Department will continue to promote the global, regional and mass expression of Chinese stories and voices through the special way of tailor-made teaching courseware for overseas youth, so as to tell Chinese stories and spread Chinese voices better.
