.

Prof. Dr. Werner Keller was the former chairman of the International Goethe Institute, an internationally renowned Goethe expert, and the former director of the Germanic Institute of Language and Literature at the University of Cologne, Germany. During his lifetime, Professor Keller paid great attention to and supported the research and dissemination of Goethe in China, and had extensive and in-depth academic exchanges and interactions with the "German Classical Literature Research Center" of our school. At the request of Professor Mo Guanghua of the German Department of the School of Foreign Languages of our school, Professor Keller donated all his personal collections to our school.

In order for these precious books to be shipped back to China smoothly, with the support of the university, the library commissioned a professional to visit Professor Keller’s house and his widow, Dr. Mechthild Keller (Dr. Mechthild Keller), after two years of joint efforts of cleaning and completing registration of the books, and with the assistance of China Science and Technology Materials Import and Export Corporation, the books will be delivered to the Xipu campus library on March 3, 2021.

Professor Keller had donated more than 5,000 German documents, many of which are rare books, which have deep documentary and academic research value, and will play a positive role in promoting the German language discipline of our school. In the next step, the library will organize professional librarians to sort and process the batch of books, and build a themed reading room for collection for the use of German teaching and research in our school, and to build a bridge for the communication between Chinese and German cultural exchanges.
