On May 11, 2026, the 2025 Spelling Bee Competition, themed Insight into Words via Translation, was successfully held in Classroom X1312. It was the 16th event in the Undergraduate Launch Series, hosted by the Department of Translation, School of Foreign Languages of SWJTU. The activity was open to all 2025 undergraduates majoring in Translation, aiming to consolidate students’ fundamental language skills, fuel their enthusiasm for vocabulary learning, and foster a positive atmosphere of active learning and mutual progress.

With perfect order in the competition, All participants stayed focused, demonstrating an impressive vocabulary bank and sound linguistic proficiency. After intense rounds of competition, Zeng Jiahui claimed the title of Vocabulary Champion with a full score and was awarded the Grand Prize. Zhao Xingbei and Xu Yanjin took the First Prize; Zhong Yongtong received the Second Prize. Six students, including Wei Xiaoxu, Yan Mengqi, Jiang Mingjia, Li Meini, Qian Xingzhu and Tao Weier , won the Third Prize. In addition, five participants, Yu Xintong, Qian Xingzhu, Zhou Weitongjuan, Zhang Manhan and Yu Zhuoxin, were honored with the Excellent English Handwriting Award.

This vocabulary competition is the 16th session of the Undergraduate Launch Series held by the Department of Translation. It carries forward the fine tradition of “promoting learning through competitions and boosting practical application via learning”, not only testing students’ phased academic outcomes, but also laying a solid foundation for their subsequent professional study. Relying on the platform of the Launch Series, the Department of Translation will keep innovating its academic support initiatives to help students continuously refine their language competence and forge ahead on their academic journey.
