To help students prepare for all kinds of foreign language subject competitions in the first half of 2026, the Engineering English Department of Southwest Jiaotong University held three special tutoring lectures in March, and provided guidance covering the 21st Century Cup National English Speaking Competition and the National English Competition for College Students (NECCS), drawing active participation from a large number of students.

On March 16, the first lecture kicked off at 19:30 in Classroom 30610,   Building 3, on Xipu Campus, focusing on the 21st Century Cup Speech Contest. The instructor offered multi-dimensional guidance, including topic analysis, speech structure, language expression and on-stage performance. With cases of past award winners, the instructor vividly demonstrated ways to enhance the appeal and logical coherence of speeches.

On March 17, the second lecture took place at 19:30 in Classroom 4151, Building 4, on Xipu Campus. Centered on NECCS, it elaborated on question types and preparation strategies for reading, writing, written translation and other sections, assisting students in building a systematic knowledge framework and exam-taking skills.

On March 23, the third lecture was held at 19:00 in Classroom 9504, Building 9, on Xipu Campus. Combining comprehensive contest training and speech practice, it strengthened students’ practical competitiveness through mock question analysis, impromptu speech rehearsals and interactive Q&A sessions, enabling them to deliver steady performances in the FLTRP · ETIC Cup.

The three lectures featured progressive content with lively on-site interactions, and students benefited immensely. By launching a systematic, event-specific tutoring system, the Engineering English Department fully demonstrates its high priority to practical English teaching and talent cultivation through competitions.
