A Delegation from the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Chengdu Visited School of Foreign Languages


On October 27th, Mr. Aron Mir Haschemi, Consul General of the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Chengdu, Ms. Elena Arlt, Director of the Visa Office, Ms. Zhao Ruolan, Assistant to the Consul General, and their interpreter came to visit our university, and after a cordial meeting with thewith the principal, they came to our school to have a communication meeting with the teachers and students. Vice Dean Prof.Yang Anwen, teachers and students of the German Department and some students from the School of Information Science and Technology and the School of Mechanical Engineering participated in the activity.


At around 4:00 pm, Mr. Haschemi and his delegation arrived at the school, and accompanied by Prof.Yang Anwen to visit the cultural corridor of the school. Mr. Haschemi showed great interest in the foreign language culture wall in the corridor and highly appreciated the atmosphere of foreign language learning created by the school.

 

At the meeting, Prof. Yang Anwen warmly welcomed the Consulate General and his delegation. He introduced the long history of cultural and pedagogical exchanges between our university and Germany, as well as the close academic exchanges and research cooperation that still exists today, and emphasized the importance of maintaining academic and humanistic exchanges between the two sides.

 

Consul General Mr. Haschemi delivered a speech. He introduced the current situation of education in Germany, the characteristics of school running and Sino-German exchanges, especially the friendly cooperation between Sichuan and Bavaria, and he also said that the Consulate General would actively promote and facilitate the exchanges between Chinese and German people, especially the young people, and provide strong support and assistance for students studying abroad in Germany.

 

Ms. Elena ArltDirector of the Visa Office of the German Consulate in Chengdu, introduced the types and processing methods of German visas, as well as visa application methods suitable for different academic stages.

    

Finally, Mr. Haschemi and Ms. Arlt answered the students questions on the spot. The German students asked the Consul General questions on topics such as the choice of studying in Germany, the necessity of language learning in the age of artificial intelligence, and the characteristics of the German academic system and specialties, etc. The Consul General recognized the enthusiasm of the young generation of German language learners, and encouraged them to learn German well based on the characteristics of the German language,  looking forward to the great prospects of Sino German communication, and improving their comprehensive abilities, and he also expressed his expectation for students to study abroad in Germany and work in Sino-German enterprise exchanges. Students from the faculties of science and technology of the university raised specific questions about studying abroad visas and language verification, and Ms. Arlt gave specific advice on how to prepare for that.

 

After the activity, Mr. Haschemi and his delegation took a friendly group photo with teachers and students, and both sides kept positive expectations for future exchanges.
