From 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on April 7, 2022, the mid-term examination and defense of the graduation thesis of the undergraduate students of grade 2018 in the Department of Business English of School of Foreign Languages of Southwest Jiaotong University was successfully held. A total of 18 teachers from the Department of Business English and Engineering English served as judges for the defense, and there were 6 defense groups, which were attended by all the students of grade 2018 from the Department of Business English.

Each student reported the completion of their graduation thesis in the middle stage respectively in accordance with the order, and the report mainly includes the following parts: 1) the current development of the graduation thesis; 2) The implementation and completion progress of the task book; 3) Introduction to the theories used in the graduation thesis; 4) Online communication with instructors and instruction notes; 5) Existing problems, etc. After each student introduced their own papers, the judges pointed out the problems and put forward suggestions on optimizing the content, improving the structure, clarifying the objectives and speeding up the progress. The students answered the questions pointed out by the judges, or asked the judges for solutions, and said that they would further modify the thesis in accordance with the judges’ opinions and suggestions, carefully plan the progress of the graduation thesis writing in the second half of the semester, actively prepare for the graduation defense, and hand over a satisfactory final draft of the graduation thesis.
