Inscription: “Zhong Chen Class Award” is the highest honor of the collective of Southwest Jiaotong University, which is selected once every academic year. “Zhong” represents the love for country, party and school; “Chen” stands for struggle, solidarity and zeal. “Zhong Chen Class” is the continuation of the spirit of the old generation of Jiaotong University, which intended to encourage the class to be more outstanding, carry forward the school’s “double strict” tradition, and benefit the construction of class discipline and academic atmosphere.

With the concept of “SHe Power”, class 1 from grade 2019 of Translation Department of the School of Foreign Languages, won the honorary title of “Zhong Chen Class” of the 2021-2022 academic year of Southwest Jiaotong University by virtue of their unremitting enterprising spirit, their love for home and country, solidarity and cooperation, optimism and generosity.

Stars are shining brightly

Class 1 from grade 2019 of Translation Department of the School of Foreign Languages in Southwest Jiaotong University consists of 22 girls and 2 boys. They are willing to help each other in the vast sea of learning, and have achieved many excellent results: SRTP National Project and Provincial Innovation Project, Silver Award of the 6th “Internet Plus” Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (Red Travel Track) of Southwest Jiaotong University, Bronze Award of the 6th “Internet Plus” Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (Main track) of Southwest Jiaotong University, 15 national competition awards, 21 provincial competition awards, Special Prize of Class B of National English Competition for College Students, all the contestants won the National Interpretation prize and the honorary title of “Demonstration Youth League Branch of the School of Foreign Languages”...

The monitor said that these achievements could not be achieved without the whole class’s attachment to the construction of learning atmosphere. We often carry out activities such as morning reading and learning experience sharing to help create a good learning atmosphere. They persevere in their study and strive for perfection.

In me the tiger sniffs the rose

They do not forget to discover the beauty in life when immersed in study. Class meetings, class life talks and other activities are often held to release pressure by talking freely. The students also actively participated in the opening ceremony of China Dance University of Sichuan Province and the World Sports Dance Festival, “Always Follow the Party” —— the large-scale chorus “Yellow River Chorus” to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, 125th anniversary gala of Southwest Jiaotong University and the 9th Sichuan University Students Art Performance, Southwest Jiaotong University "Tribute to the Centennial Youth and Enjoy National Day & Golden Autumn "and other cultural activities.

“Academic life and after-school life are not opposites, while they complement each other.” When asked how to balance their study and life, the monitor said, “Participating in a certain number of activities can help students relax and make good time planning.”

Believe in wisdom and work with vigour

“There is no distance between one’s ambition and his future.” They always adhere to the “three zhen (sincerity, honest, truth)” and “three loves (for party, country, school)” concept. In the last two years, the class has carried out 54 league day activities, with more than 20% of outstanding league members and more than 20% of the planned development objects. The students actively participated in the Party history research of the four schools, the translation of political and economic hot words, Youth Confession and other activities, combining the love of the Party with their profession, and contributing their own strength, so as to strengthen their faith with sincerity and interpret their love with action.

Outside of school, they also rely on their professional advantages, combining voluntary service activities with their own value realization in art exhibitions, community counseling, large competitions and other occasions to integrate themselves into the public, learn and grow from practice.

Classmates interact orderly

In response to the call of the school, they actively carry out the construction of class and league integration, establish the committee responsibility system, formulate organization and management regulations, implement the principles of openness, fairness and justice, and achieve “every requirement has a response and every problem has a solution”. With the guidance of the class committee and the initiative of the students, everyone’s loveliness can be shown and everyone’s strengths can be played out. They also take class construction as the center, actively carrying out various activities, like the class party which is used to shorten the distance between students in laughter, and the special letter activity which helps connect the hearts of the students together.

The monitor said that those activities should be “people-oriented” and not superficial. Make a plan before the activity, and try to let every student participate in it and get a sense of experience and satisfaction. Class is not only a place to learn together, but a warm family.

Honesty and be kind

When talking about the feeling of the honorary title, monitor Wang Shanshan said the first reaction was honor and pride. She also said that they met many difficulties in this process, and they cannot succeed without the training and care of the teachers, especially the encouragement and help of the deputy secretary of the Party Committee Wu Jun, the instructor Liu Xuan and the class instructor Zhang Yongli, which gave them the feeling of the warmth from school. For the class, this is not the end, but a milestone in college life. The road ahead will be long.

“It’s normal to have conflicts, but when you have them, you should face them in time instead of running away. Face-to-face communication is a good way to do that.” Finally, Wang Shanshan put forward this suggestion for the class construction work to the younger students.
