Professor Yu Senlin Won the Tianfu Translation Award for his Monograph——History of English Translation of Taoist Classics

Professor Yu Senlin’s monograph —— History of English Translation of Taoist Classics won the first prize in the 10th Tianfu Translation Award of Sichuan Translation Association.

History of English Translation of Taoist Classics is the achievement of the Research on the Translation and Dissemination of Chinese Taoist Classics, a National Social Science Foundation project chaired by Professor Yu Senlin. It was published with good grade (Certificate No.: 20181834) by Shanghai Sanlian Bookstore in November 2020.

This book takes “The Origins of Taoism” in Morrison’s Collection of the Sources and Flows of the Three Religions and the Search for Gods in 1812 as the starting point of the English translation of Daoist classics, systematically sorting out the historical context of the English translation of Daoist classics for the first time, and collecting the vital documents of the English translation of the Daoist classics, which fills the academic gaps in the fields of translation history, overseas sinology history and overseas Taoism studies. This book has important theoretical and practical value for the comprehensive understanding of the overseas acceptance and influence of Chinese culture and promoting the cross-civilization dialogue between Chinese and foreign academic circles.
