The Third Dubbing Competition

On April 14, the third Dubbing Competition of SWJTU, sponsored by campus broadcasting station and the School of Foreign Languages, was held on the third floor of the second canteen.

The competition judges were Mr. Xu Jinzhuan, vice Minister of the Publicity Department of Party committee; Ms. Gong Yuanyuan, host of Chengdu Rideo; Ms. Lyu Yanting, lecturer of Sichuan Film and Television University; Mr. Liu Liang, counselor of SWJTU broadcasting station; Dr. He Jun from Department of German and Ms. Nana Nomoto, lecturer of Department of Japanese.

The Dubbing Competition lasted for a month. After two rounds of preliminary rounds, eight teams advanced into the final competition.

The final adopted the promotion system and was divided into three rounds. In the first round, each group had own characteristics. Two groups from the School of Foreign Languages reinterpreted the two classic animation clips in Chongqing dialect and German respectively, showing the cultural exchange and integration. Students from School of Architecture and Design and the animation association used fluent Japanese dubbing and animation to show their passion.

Just when the results were being announced, the site suddenly encountered a power outage. The host called on the audience to open the flashlight of mobile phones and voluntarily sing songs. The audience became enthusiastic, and they raised their flashlights to respond. Then, with the school song, the power outage finished and the competition resumed.

In the subsequent rounds, the contestants were immersed in their own understandings, and the wonderful performances attracted bursts of applause. After the fierce competition, three groups advanced to the final round and started the competition for the first prize.

Finally, Wang Xinyue’s team won the best popularity award; Wang Lu’s team, Liu Sanhua’s team and Tu Shaocheng’s team won the third prize; Wang Meng’s team and Zhao Wuanlu’s team won the second prize; Yin Zijun’s team won the first prize. They also received the invitation of Ms. Gong Yuanyuan. The team would be on her radio show "Cultural Salon" to tell their stories about dubbing.

The Campus Dubbing Competition was successfully completed. The contestants enhanced their conception of teamwork. In this competition, from dialects to various languages, from classic movies to animations, these dubbing clips showed the characteristics of various languages and the charm of diverse cultures. It opened up students’ international perspective. Besides, inviting some international students as judges could promote their deeper understanding of SWJTU’S culture and Chinese culture. It also innovated the ways for college students to improve their overall quality.
