Massive open online course, also known as "MOOC" for short, is a newly emerging online curriculum development model. As a new educational technology, MOOC takes the Internet as the medium of communication and is a popular teaching method for the youth. At the same time, it has greatly improved the teaching effect to a certain extent and helped to spread knowledge. In addition, students can also combine online and offline learning through it to improve their interest in learning and broaden their horizons, thus enhancing their learning efficiency.
Because of the attraction of MOOC, prof. Wang chose to participate into the shooting and take charge of the first part of the course -- Introduction. Here we have Mr.Wang to discuss MOOC with us.
Prof. Wang said that the preparation of MOOC is very different from that of ordinary courses. For the former, teachers need to output a large amount of knowledge and information in a relatively short period of time, while also thinking about how to get twice the result with half the effort and improve the quality of teaching. These are great challenges for teachers. The quality of MOOC is guaranteed. However, the shooting of it has many difficulties. According to prof. Wang, they are mainly in three aspects. First, teachers need to think about students' preferences and combine them with teaching objectives and teaching contents. Secondly, they need to connect the latest study results of the discipline with the curriculum. Finally, they need to integrate Chinese excellent traditional culture and core socialist values into the teaching.
Although there were numerous problems, the faculties didn't give up. All the teachers used their spare time to look up abundant historical documents. Besides, they also devoted themselves in discussion and shooting during the winter and summer vacations.
In the end, we interviewed about the role of MOOC in improving students' quality of humanity. Prof. Wang said that it is necessary for students in a school dominated by science and engineering to understand traditional Chinese culture and western modern civilization and set up a global view. Therefore, this course can open up the perspective of Chinese and western culture and the internationalization of higher education for students. In addition, it will also help students build up national dignity and pride, thus deepening their understanding of the theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
From this point of view, it is necessary to set up the MOOC. Thanks for the hard work of all the teachers.
