At 8:30 a.m. on April 14, 2017, the 118th sports game of SWJTU was held in the northern stadium of Xipu campus.

Mr. Liu Jiang, deputy director of sports department, hosted the opening ceremony. President of SWJTU, Professor Fei Xu, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee, Professor Zhijian Chen and Professor Qipeng Yan, Vice President, Wengui Zhang, Member of the Standing Committee, Professor Huoming Shen, Director of the Party Committee Office, Ling Gan and Director of the School Committee, Mr. Zhong presented the opening ceremony.

At the opening ceremony, the uniformed students in School of Foreign Languages walked forward with their backs straight and their heads held erect. They presented the vigorous emotion of youngsters. Other schools’ shows were also distinctive. For instance, the spirited cheer squad, many colorful hydrogen balloons, the unique flag signal, and the soft Tai Chi, etc.

Teachers and students stood up and sang the national anthem at the flag-raising ceremony. Then, Professor Chen Zhijian delivered an opening address. He first expressed his congratulations. Then, he emphasized the importance of physical education and reviewed the outstanding achievements in recent years. Finally, he expressed his sincere wishes to the athletes and hoped that students could continue to maintain the excellent tradition, showing the sport style of SWJTU.

After the athletes and referees represented a solemn oath, the athletes were in place. President Xu Fei announced the official opening of the 118th Sports Game of SWJTU.

On the sport ground, the athletes struggled for their own goals and glory. The sports carnival was held at the northern basketball court, which consisted of many entertaining games. Besides, there were chess competitions and sports exhibitions here. Many associations brought wonderful performances and ignited the passion of the audience.

At 8:30 a.m. on April 15, the athletes did not lose their passion on the second day’s game. In the afternoon, the 4x100m relay pushed the whole game to a climax among the bursts of cheers and applause.

At 4:00 p.m., the 118th Sports Game of SWJTU was completed in the northern stadium of Xipu campus. Chief Referee, Mr. Li Hongtu announced the game results at the closing ceremony. There were 7 records broken on sports carnival. With the applause and cheers from the audience, Professor Chen Zhijian presented the award to the winning group and took the group photo.

After two days of the game, School of Foreign Languages received many awards. The student group B won the ninth place. Athletes performed well on many projects: on the “on the same boat” game (players stand on a board at the same time and alternately march forward) School of Foreign Languages won the second place, and won the fourth place on the “pull together” game (players run together on the runway horizontally with the ankles of each adjacent two players tied together with leggings.). Xia Jianxin won the fifth place in the men's standing long jump; Deng Shiyu won the sixth place in the men’s pull-up; Yu Ruihan won the sixth place in the women's shot put; Lei Yu won the tenth place in the preliminary for women's 100 m.

Finally, Professor Chen Zhijian made a concluding speech. He expressed his congratulations to the athletes and teams who achieved excellent results in the game, and advocated that students should love sports, love life, and take healthy exercise. In the warm applause, the Sports Game of SWJTU ended.

The purpose of the 118th Sports Game of SWJTU is to comprehensively improve the health of college students, establish the concept of “health first” and multi-cultivation, and improve the overall quality of students. It reflects SWJTU's emphasis on sports and the development of sports activities that are conducive to students' physical and mental health. The Sports Game enables the students to fully promote the spirit of sports and competition.
