The 2018 Opening Ceremony of Freshmen

The 2018 opening ceremony of freshmen of the School of Foreign Languages, presided over by Deputy Secretary Wang Junqi, was held on September 1, 2018 at the No. 1 lecture hall of Library in the Xipu Campus, attended by 223 undergraduates and 65 graduate students. The guests attended the opening ceremony were Professor Li Chengjian, Vice President Yu Senlin, Professor Wang Pengfei, Vice Professor Yang Anwen, Assistant Professor Ren Xiankai and the dean of every Department. The opening ceremony started in the solemn national anthem.

First, deans of departments welcomed the new students in the language of each major.

Later, President Li Chengjian delivered a speech, briefly introducing the teaching history and achievements of SFL. She hoped that students can promote the development of SFL through national policies such as the "The Belt and Road Initiative". May the students broaden their horizons and pay attention to domestic and foreign news, remain a commitment to learn the basic professional knowledge, stay healthy, embrace challenges and become ago-ahead personnel being proficient in foreign languages.

Zhang Zhuoran, the student representative, hoped that she and all freshmen can adjust their mindset, accurately define themselves, and not indulge in flashiness. Then, the "Chairman Xi's Message" and "Read a letter from home" were broadcasted to encourage new students to stay true and be great. Video "The First Moment" enableed freshmen to recall their first experience on our university. What's more, video "What do seniors say" encouraged freshmen to learn from excellent seniors. And all freshmen sent a letter to themselves that would be received one year later.

Finally, the opening ceremony came to an end in the solemn national anthem.
