The Psychology Lecture of the School of Foreign Languages of Southwest Jiaotong University was held successfully on October 18, 2018, at 14:00 pm. in classroom X4352. The theme of the lecture was "Adaptation to a new life --- a general problem for college freshmen". The lecture was chaired by Professor Guo Bingjun, the counselor of Grade 2018 of the School of Foreign Languages. Professor Jiang Hongbo, from the Psychological Research and Consulting Center of Southwest Jiaotong University, was invited to deliver the lecture. All of the 2018 undergraduate and postgraduate studentsof SFL participated in the lecture.

First of all, Mr. Jiang informed students about the location, work time and telephone number of the psychological counseling center, and encouraged them to contact with the counseling teacher in time when they encountered problems, so as to solve the problems as soon as possible and maintain a healthy mental state.

Next, Mr. Jiang enumerated three cases of psychological problems, introduced what was the psychological adaptation of College freshmen. Then he elaborated the six aspects of the adaption, and gave a detailed explanation about it.

Later, Mr. Jiang put forward two tips for students to address the psychological problems: first, express their unpleasant emotions rationally. He explained that it needs to follow three principles: timeliness, moderation and rationality. Second, ask for social support. He suggested that we should ask for social support by actively seeking advice from others and accepting psychological counseling.

After Jiang's speech, Miss. Guo Bingjun presided over the psychological assessment of 2018 undergraduate students. The psychological test is divided into two parts: one is the questionnaire of psychological evaluation of the Ministry of Education, and the other is that from Virtual Simulation Experiment Center for Mental Health Assessment and Training of Southwest Jiaotong University.

The lecture was successfully closed following the completion of the assessment.
