UC Davis is famous for its Departments of Management, Economics, Law, Social Sciences, Humanities, and Arts. It is also a first-class Research and Education Center for language science and other disciplines in the world. According to US News&World Report 2018, UC Davis ranks 46th in U.S. Undergraduate Comprehensive Ranking and 52nd in the World University; 54th in the World University of Times Higher Education in 2018; 13th in Forbes the most Valuable University of America in 2018.

In 2017, President Xu Fei led a team to visit the University of California-Davis. During the visit, the two colleges reached an agreement and signed a friendly cooperation agreement. The agreement reached an agreement on joint training and student exchange between the two colleges. The contract period is from July 3, 2018, to July 3, 2023. This provides students with a good opportunity to broaden their horizons, improve their professional learning, improve their abilities in all aspects, and strengthen the cultural friendship between China and the United States.The project will be implemented from October 2018. 5-8 students will be selected from the College of Foreign Languages to study in the United States each year for one semester or one academic year according to the major selected. Students go to the school in January, April, June, and August to study in winter, spring, summer, and autumn every year. 5-8 students majoring in English, Translation, or Business English are selected to study at the University of California-Davis for one semester or one academic year (depending on the course selected). Students should have TOEFL 61 or above or IELTS 6.0 or above. Southwest Jiaotong University recognizes the credits and scores gained by students during their study at the University of California-Davis. The main courses of study are: English and American Literature, Translation, Cross-cultural Communication, International Politics, English Writing, etc. The tuition fee of each student is 40000 yuan/semester (excluding living expenses and accommodation), and the College of Foreign Languages subsidizes 10000 yuan for each dispatched student.

         Wang Pengfei, Vice President of the College of Foreign Languages, is the chief director of the program. Lu Xiangyu, the full-time Foreign-Affairs Secretary, is responsible for the specific implementation of the program, and Professor Chu Chengzhi, University of Californi-Davis, is responsible for recommending and selecting students. Students are usually selected half a year in advance. The Foreign-Affairs Secretary of the college shall be responsible for issuing the selection announcement, and the students shall sign up voluntarily on the premise of meeting the requirements of the project, and then the above-mentioned teacher in charge of the project shall organize an interview. According to the final examination results of previous semesters, TOEFL, or IELTS scores and interview scores, the dispatched students shall be selected and sent after being publicized in the college.Professor Chu Chengzhi, Academic Consultant of the University of California-Davis, and Director Liang Xia of the East Asia affairs Department are responsible for the guidance and management of students' study and life in the United States. Students are required to submit monthly reports on their study and life in the United States, so as to better guide and manage students' learning and life issues in a timely manner. After returning to China, students will submit their study reports to the College of Foreign Language and the International Office, as well as their academic performance certificates in foreign courses. The Academic Committee of the college shall discuss and determine the students' study abroad, and then, together with the international office and the academic affairs office, determine the corresponding credits for studying abroad.
