The Student Exchange Program with University Lumiere Lyon 2 of France

     The student exchange program between University Lumiere Lyon 2, France and School of Foreign Languages (SFL) of SWJTU was signed in 2008 and renewed in 2013. Under the annual program, several applicant students from the SFL Department of French will be selected to study at Lyon 2 for one year, with tuition wholly covered and credits gained in the exchange courses transferable. The students are also offered guidance in course selection as well as a teaching practice with the French Chinese majors. Those who finished the program have received positive comments on both their excellent academic performance and their active participation in the friendly exchange between China and France.
Located at the downtown Lion and founded in 1896, Lyon 2 is a comprehensive university, with a student population of 28497 (in 2015) and an area of 61000 square meters. It is comprised of 13 teaching units in four main areas of teaching and research: art, literature, languages; science, technology, health; human and social sciences; law, economics, management. The university, with excellent teaching and 300 plus diploma courses, has 6 faculties, 5 institutes, the university institute of technology and the International Center of French Studies which, also the national French training center, was set up in 1945 where many foreign students including about 100 Chinese are learning French with the help of experienced lecturers.
    According to the program, the exchange students will study in principles of applied literature or French linguistics in the first phase, taking courses with other students in physical education, education (e.g. French Grammatical Analysis), general education (e.g. A foreign language, French culture, Verbal communication) and professional education (e.g. French linguistics, History of Europe and France, Latin studies).
    In addition to the academic study, the exchange students can also enjoy bilingual living circumstances if they apply in advance for a room in French-Chinese Student Residence. The Residence is open to the public, holding a rich variety of activities every week, such as French dramas, culinary art exchange, Christmas party, Asian students party. These cultural activities, in addition to the colorful cultural events organized by Lion government, can enlighten the students and improve their mutual understanding in a multicultural context.
