Prof. Wang Zhenxun, Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Chaoyang University of Technology (CYUT), Taiwan, and his colleagues came to SFL for possibility of joint education and academic exchange on May 13th, 2015.
Prof. Li Chengjian, Dean of SFL, welcomed the delegation from CYUT. Prof. Tang Yueqin, Vice Dean of SFL, briefly introduced SFL. During the last 30 years since its establishment, SFL has developed from a single department to a school consisting of 8 departments and 6 institutes, providing multiple languages education instead of a single language education. The well-developed discipline platform and talent cultivation system jointly guarantee the qualification of its graduates. On the other hand, SFL is seeking international cooperation and enhancing its academic influence, with several international, regional and domestic cooperation projects being carried out. These programs will improve the accessibility for both the teachers and the students to more diversified experiences in education and training.
Prof. Wang Zhenxun said that as the relationship between Taiwan and the Mainland China develops, the cross-Strait cooperation and exchanges at the culture level is of greater importance. CYUT, though with a 20-year history (established in 1994), has ranked No. one among the private universities in Taiwan, with a characteristic integration of education, research and practice. The Dean of Department of Applied English introduced their translation program and Chinese education center, expecting for cooperation in talent cultivation and academic sharing with SFL in such areas as teaching Chinese, MTI (Master of Translation and Interpreting) program, literary translation, etc.
Both parties are looking forward to further cooperation and exchange in the future.
